Inspiring Seminar by YNGUAM: “From Idea to Value: Entrepreneurship and Innovation”

The seminar titled “From Idea to Value: Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” organized by the New Generation Entrepreneurship and Innovation Application and Research Center (YNGUAM), addressed university–industry collaborations, support mechanisms for entrepreneurs, and the processes through which innovative ideas are transformed into added value through systematic structures.

Held on February 16, 2026, within the scope of Innovation Day, the seminar brought together diverse stakeholders from academia, the public sector, and the entrepreneurship ecosystem on a single platform. The event emphasized the importance of transforming creative ideas into tangible outcomes through planned and sustainable approaches.

The seminar began with opening remarks delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ahmet Sapmaz, Coordinator of Application and Research Centers and Prof. Tarık Çakar as part of Innovation Day. In his speech, Prof. Tarık Çakar highlighted the importance of strengthening university–industry collaboration, disseminating innovative thinking systems, and fostering a sustainable culture of entrepreneurship.

Following the opening speeches, Hande Ceylan Dayan, Director of Istanbul Gelisim University TEKMER, took the floor and provided participants with information on the support of technology-based startups, mentorship processes, and collaborations developed with ecosystem stakeholders.

As part of the program, Duygu Yücesoy Manyaslı, Director of KOSGEB Istanbul İkitelli, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Entrepreneur Support Program. Her presentation detailed the grants and support opportunities available to entrepreneurs, as well as application processes and evaluation criteria.

Another speaker of the seminar, Dr. Elif Güngör Reis, in her presentation titled “From Idea to Tangible Value: Transformation through Strong Systems and Structures,” stated that innovation is not limited to the generation of creative ideas alone. She emphasized that effective systems, process management, and strategic structures play a decisive role in the transformation process, and shared information on the TÜBİTAK 1812 call from the perspective of entrepreneurship and innovation.

During the question-and-answer session held at the end of the seminar, participants had the opportunity to directly address their questions on entrepreneurship and innovation processes to the speakers. The program concluded with the presentation of plaques to the speakers, while participants once again emphasized the importance of strong collaborations and sustainable value creation in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation.
